ROUGH phaco animatic

[THIS IS A ROUGH ANIMATIC. DON'T JUDGE YET.]

I've gotten some complaints that I never post anymore. This semester isn't really yielding a lot of postable stuff; I've been doing research, animating, working, and generally learning a bit more about video compositing... but generally, there's nothing I can post here, either for legal issues or because I feel it's not in keeping with the spirit of this blog.

With animating, it takes a pretty long time to go from zero to something cool, so I won't really be able to show you very much until April or May. I'm taking a group animation class, where four of us are working on an animation about cataract surgery (aka phacoemulsification, aka "phaco"), the rough bones of which you can see above. (I was/am responsible for animating about half of the actual surgery.)

It's a great experience. I'll admit I'm getting a little nervous as our deadline edges closer, but I'm confident that we'll pull it together in the end.

  1. After seeing all the hard work you guys have put into this, I think the end result will be spectacular. You go, go, go! Nice work so far.

    p.s. sorry for the complaints.

Also, I love the reading on "I-O-L."

  3. Annie: Thank you for the support! I'm not sure what complaints you're apologizing for, but it's all good. :)

Batman: I hate it! It was a scratch track, and that was my first read-through. That line in particular just makes me laugh. I have a better recording for the final.

  4. Well, it makes me laugh too, and that's why I like it. You're probably right that it's not what you want on the real thing though.

Not saying you need it, since you don't, but I'd actually love to do some voiceover work, and I'd do it completely for free in case I ever need a resume builder or something.
